This is a step by step tutorial of how to install the usb driver for Open Media Controller on Windows 7.
You will need these items:
- OMC Starter Kit - download here
- open media controller
- Mini USB cable
Step 1: Connect USB
- Connect the Open Media Controller to your computer using the mini USB cable
- Windows will try to install the appropiate driver
- If you ever had a Arduino Mega 2560 connected to your computer, the driver installation will work automatically
- If not, the installation will fail and you have to follow the next steps of this tutorial to install the driver
Step 2: Device Manager
Open the Device Manager:
- Go to >> Start >> Control Panel >> Device Manager (top left corner)
- Or press Start and type "device manager"
- In the device manager you should find the open media controller under Other Devices as Arduino Mega 2560

Step 3: Update driver software
- Right click on the device and choose Update Driver Software

Step 4: Browse computer
- choose "Browse my computer for driver software"

Step 5: Browse to driver
- Click on the Browse Button
- Navigate to the /hardware/drivers folder contained in the OMC Starter Kit
- Then click Next

Step 6: Install anyway
- After a moment Windows will bring up a security warning
- Try to stay cool and take a deep breath and...
- choose Install this driver software anyway

- installation should continue looking like this

Step 7: Success
- Windows will need a moment to finish installation process
- If you see this message the installation was successfull

- Finish installation by clicking Close
- You will now find the open media controller under Ports (COM & LPT)
- It will appeare as Arduino Mega 2560
- It is also marked on which virtual COM-Port the controller has been installed (COMXX)
